CHURCH COUNCIL ON CHRISTIAN EDUCATION, PERSONAL SPIRITUAL LIFE AND
COMMITMENT
To celebrate and to mark as a response to a need to increase attendance
at church worship, deepen personal
spiritual life, and make Confirmation a life-long commitment, Church
Council and the Pastor will provide our confirmed
youth with the opportunity to choose specific tasks such as
- weeding, overseeing the church banners, care of the window
candles, checking to see there are hymnals in the pew racks, taking treats
to shut-ins, helping at the soup kitchen and
the Service and Project Group, helping in a church school class, providing
special music, and many more tasks that will
be a service to our congregation.
To teach children and youth to worship by worshiping and to pray by
praying, a new part of Christian education will
be
- to begin each Church School class with prayer (with guidelines and
prayer suggestions provided for the teachers to use),
- have grades 4 through 7 serve as ushers in church on a scheduled
basis, and participate (with training) in giving some of the prayers,
and receiving the offering . learning and doing the motions that accompany
the prayer and offering responses.
- To urge every member to make worship a regular practice, the second
Sunday night "Stop and say .Good night. to God" 8:00 PM service
will be stressed as the time for anyone who cannot attend on
Sunday morning . . . with more Sunday evening opportunities to
follow as times for fellowship, to be church family to one
another.
