The recent concert of the Anhalt Brass Ensemble (June 13, 2005) at Trinity UCC in Collegeville was part of a series of events commemorating ten years of partnership between the Evangelical Regional Church of Anhalt (Evangelische landeskirche Anhalts)* and the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ Earlier events in the celebration included:
The Anhalt Brass, guests of various congregations in the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the UCC, were in the United States from June 7 to 18, 2005 (The first seven of these days were spent in the Collegeville-Philadelphia area). They gave concerts in various churches and visited many historical sites.
*The Evangelische Kirche originated in 1817 as a result of a union between the Lutheran and Reformed Churches in the German state of Prussia.. The headquarters of the Evangelical Regional Church of Anhalt, a regional church body of 55,000 members is located in Dessau (southwest of Berlin)_ in what was formerly East Germany. The Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ is comprised of 190 congregations with a total of 60,000 members in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester, Berks and Schuylkill Counties.
